BEACON 3

We collaborated with Prisma Photonics to design a new front panel for one of their advanced computing units, responsible for fault detection along fiber optic networks. Our challenge was to create a strong design identity while improving functionality and maintaining consistency with the company’s DNA, based on their existing StyleGuide.

 

Our process included defining the visual identity, exploring use cases, developing the look and feel, planning for production, and sketching concept ideas - with an emphasis on the flow of information, the speed of light, and the critical breaking points that characterize Prisma Photonics' technology.

chosen concept

The design concept is based on dynamic panels that shift their shape from two-dimensions to three-dimensions, creating variable spaces and functional material "outbreaks" for ventilation. This approach is implemented in the PC unit, alongside a strategic use of color that differentiates the product and forms an integral part of the company's DNA. All of this is made possible thanks to smart planning based on simple CNC manufacturing, ensuring efficient and simple production and assembly processes.
